As a student of World War II, this is the first time I've heard of this mission. Indeed, it was a game changer. As an Army veteran, the light bulbs went off as the story progressed. I've even used subsequent technology. So, what was it? This 19 minute video details a secret intelligence unit who was at the front of many battles capturing maps and state of the art map making equipment detailing the landscape of Europe and the Soviet Union. These maps became especially important in helping Allied Artillery improve accuracy (yes, they needed help) and in the Cold War that followed, giving critical information on Eastern Europe and Soviet Terrain.
