I know this sounds like something out of a crazy Hollywood movie, but it's true. On Jan. 4-5, 1866, along the Texas-Mexico border, around 125 volunteers made up of the 118th U.S. Colored Infantry and ex-Confederate soldiers crossed the Rio Grande and landed in Mexico. It seems Napoleon III sent the Austrian's to stir up trouble along the U.S. border. Crazy, huh? Check out the 9 minute video for an overview of what happened. Hint - it didn't work out well for Napoleon and his boys.
