  • The Stone Man (1953), National monument. Kamp Amersfoort, also referred to as Durchgangslager Amersfoort, was a Nazi concentration camp located close to the Dutch city of Amersfoort. It was officially known as "Polizeiliches Durchgangslager Amersfoort", or simply P.D.A., which stood for Amersfoort Police Transit Camp. Over 37,000 prisoners were detained at the camp from 1941 until 1945. The facility was situated in the northern region of the municipality of Leusden, precisely on the border that divides Leusden and Amersfoort located in the central part of the Netherlands. The site is recognized in history as one of the dreadful concentration camps that were utilized by the Nazis during World War II.
