Hints: He was born in NYC and now interred at Arlington National Cemetery. He served with the 4th Marine Division and was wounded during the Battle of Saipan. Following the War, he became quite famous.

Agreed and great point. I always liked Lee Marvin. "The Dirty Dozen" is classic Lee Marvin.
A very good movie
"The Dirty Dozen" had a cast of popular 1960s and 1970s actors.
And some were actual WWII veterans like Lee himself, such as Charles Bronson, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Jaeckel, George Kennedy (2 bronze stars), Robert Ryan, Telly Savalas, and Clint Walker to name some of them. I'm sure there were more.
