After spending 36 months overseas in the Pacific Theater during WWII, my father had enough points to come home to Chicago in the Spring of 1945. He was reassigned to the 5th Army upon his return. In this photograph his left sleeve bears the U.S. Army's Pacific Ocean Areas patch. This was taken before reassignment to the 5th Army stateside.
