On Tuesday, March 25, Dr. Adrian Di Bisceglie will address the Military History Club of the Missouri Athletic Club on war in Africa from World War II in North Africa to Bush War in Southern Africa.  Gov. Di Bisceglie will talk about his father’s service in the Italian army in North Africa during World War II, his capture by the British and internment in a POW camp in South Africa for the duration.  After his release he chose to stay in South Africa where he worked, married and raised a family.

Governor Di Bisceglie will also speak on his own service as a physician in the South African Medical Services after his conscription into the South African Defense Force.  He will give a brief overview of the various wars of liberation going on in Southern Africa in the last decades of the previous century, leading up to the release from prison of Nelson Mandela in 1990 and his election to President of South Africa in 1994.
