  • Location: St. Louis, Missouri or online
  • Description:

On February 27 the Military History Club of the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis turns its attention to the Darkest Winter of the Revolutionary War as it welcomes a Zoom presentation by William Hazelgrove, author of Morristown: The Darkest Winter of the Revolutionary War and the Plot to Kidnap George Washington.

In the fall of 1779 George Washington took his 10,000 men into winter camp at Morristown, New Jersey after four long years of fighting. It would be a brutal winter of suffering, depression, starvation, betrayal, mutiny, treason and an attempt to kidnap George Washington by the British. By the spring only 8,000 men would be left in Morristown with less than two thirds fit for service. Books have cemented Valley Forge as one with Omaha Beach, the Death March of Bataan, and Washington crossing the Delaware. But the winter of Valley Forge was mild in comparison to other winters. Temperatures did not plummet to unheard levels and snowfall was normal. And the men were not starving

    THE D-DAY FESTIVAL

WELCOME AT THE GREATEST EVENT WORLDWIDE ON GERMAN WWII VEHICLES ON MAY 20-21, 2023!

During the Militracks weekend, there are German motorcycles, passenger cars, trucks, half-tracks and armoured vehicles on display that were predominantly in service of the Wehrmacht. German vehicle technology at that time was in many cases qualitatively better than that of the Allies. At Militracks, it is demonstrated – and some cases literally – how that technology worked. The vehicles are also not just set up in static displays, but driven around on the special, kilometre-and-a-half trail on the museum grounds. It is also possible to ride along. You can buy tickets for that on the grounds themselves. And furthermore, during Militracks we also will be hosting Tracks and Trade, a new event organised by BAIV company!

Entrance tickets can be ordered from now online. Remaining tickets will be sold at the entrance during the event. In case the event is sold out, we will report that here on our website. For

Our next public open house in April is scheduled not just for one day, but for a whole weekend in celebration of our 75th anniversary and the 2023 Gainey Cup - Best Scout Squad Competition !

For this open house, the Collection and the National Armor and Cavalry Heritage Foundation are excited to showcase a few extra vehicles. First, we will have the storage bays housing the World War II German JagdPanther and Jagdtiger tank destroyers open for viewing. These vehicles (both formerly at the Aberdeen Proving Ground) are awaiting restoration work, but due to popular demand we will be having them on display for this special open house. Second, we will have a modern M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank and M3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicle from the U.S. Army Armor School's 316th Cavalry Brigade with Soldiers to show off today's armored fighting vehicles.
